The CD, Only love matters: music for Soft Diamond Light is essentially one piece of music, composed of thirteen moves, one song and a reprise. They are all based on the same melody of the song, ‘I know I am’, written in 1993 for my meditation teacher and performed for her in 1997. The CD was subsequently produced to honour and celebrate this special experience.
The CD is also included in the Soft Diamond Light package.
The initial idea for the CD recording back in 2006 was to simply include the song and a couple of extra tracks of ambient-type music for listening to while reading the book. (The final CD grew out of this basic concept.) The first step in the actual production of the CD was made in 2006. It was to record just the vocals to the song. As we started this process, the music production seemed to take on a life of its own, creating its own momentum, direction and ultimate outcome.
The music was produced using a unique process. The actual shape of the CD only emerged in the editing and mixing process. This occurred as we slowly brought together all the individual musical takes into what became the final overall piece of music based on the song. The overall production of the music took a journey of many years to prepare and complete. Most of this time was spent on the inner preparation and energy generated after the song was first written back in 1993.
